The Golden Globes 2011

I adore all things celebrity related. I adore celebrities of the Hollywood and movie star variety the most. I am in my element when award season rolls round. It's better than Christmas. The Golden Globes are most definitely my favourite of all of the award shows.

My favourite moments of this years Golden Globes are below.

Ricky Gervais.
I'm a huge Gervais fan and will not hear a bad word said against him. Notable Gervais quotes include his Robert Downey Jnr introduction, " Many of you in this room probably know him best from such facilities as the Betty Ford Clinic and Los Angeles County Jail" and introducing Bruce Willis as "Ashton Kutcher's Dad".

Social Network
Not really a moment, but more of a "WHAT???'. I've seen The Social Network. It's great. But the best film of 2010? No chance. I really cannot understand how it won best picture.

Natalie Portman
Her performance in Black Swan is mind blowing. If you haven't seen it go NOW. Without a doubt the best performance of 2010.

Dresses
Leighton Meester wore the dress of the night in my opinion. Olivia Wilde and Scarlet Johansson also wore amazing dresses. Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway looked ridiculous.

Inception
My favourite film of last year. Here's hoping it gets something at the Oscars.

Options

I have just finished my second three month internship. In total I have now been working for free for 6 months. I thought that at this stage there might be a few job openings, but it would seem the only job companies want to offer graduates is internships.

I'm not against internships. I think it's a good way of getting experience when you are in college. It helps you to meet people in the industry and you learn tonnes. But companies offering internships in Ireland forget that an internship is actually quite a difficult under taking. You are expected to be thankful for your internship and delighted to have been given the chance to work for free.

An internship in Ireland is not like an internship on the telly. You work your bum off. You feel under appreciated and over worked. You do the same work as a full time paid employee in the company and don't get paid for it. It financially ruins you. Ireland is an expensive country when you're working, try living here when you're working for free.

I am not prepared under any circumstances to take another internship position. After six months of working for free I have paid my dues. This decision has left me with little options.

I can either immigrate or go on the dole.

Things I did today

Today I went to work and as always work was wonderful. In between the press releases and organising clippings (sadface) I rekindled my girl crush on Gisele Bundchen.

She's unbelievable. Look at her in the park with her baby and no make-up on. UNFAIR!!!!

I would quite like a face/body transplant or whatever it will take to look like her. If anyone knows any good plastic surgeons...

Brian Cowen

I actually cannot believe that people are still talking about Brian Cowen. I kind of feel a bit sorry for him, he was obviously not drunk on an interview with Morning Ireland. Hungover and tired - maybe.

But drunk??

PEOPLE COME ON!

Granted he's an eejit, but to perfectly honest it's not him we should be blaming - his PR team should be hanging their heads in shame. I cannot believe that at no point that night his PR team did not tell him to put down the drink and head to bed. I also cannot believe they let him do that interview on Morning Ireland. They should have had the sense to cancel it. They also should have at the sense on Monday to come out with a statement that apologised for the interview - they left it days before even a hint of an apology was made. Eejits.

So let's ease up on poor old Brian. He's a lot on his plate, it can't be easy having a face like that.

Stevie Wonder

Above is footage of possibly the best concert I have ever had the pleasure of attending.

I went to Stevie Wonder in the 02 last night. I can't even describe how good it was. He is amazing. He played all his hits, everyone sang along, everyone was up dancing. The atmosphere was indescribable. I have never been to a concert like it and I don't think I ever will be at one like it again.

In one way it made me sad though. Lets be honest we don't have these kind of musicians anymore. Most of the artists now days don't write their own stuff and their concerts consist of them singing along to a backing track. It's awful. Stevie played for over two hours. He never once let it slip and he's in his 60's. He smiled for the whole thing and he and his band looked like they were having the time of their lives.

Stevie Wonder you are a hero. I am so happy I got the chance to see you live.

STRESS ATTACK!! agh!

This is what I currently look like every time I think about my thesis. I think about my thesis every second of the day at the moment, which means I look like this all the time. Let me tell you it's not a good look. It consumes my every waking moment and sleeping moment. I have bad dreams about not getting it written, bad dreams about it getting deleted off the computer, bad dreams about getting a big fat F etc.
Writing a thesis is horrific in so many ways and I hope the fucker that invented it is burning in hell as I type this. Firstly, the whole supervisor thing. They don't answer your questions and they don't help you. They just judge you and have a permanently disappointed face when you get confused or don't have all your work done. They are more stress than the thesis.
Secondly, is the whole research gathering process. The lit review is grand - you just read books and articles and write about them -EASY PEASEY! The rest though - oh God...I have been trying to organise interviews for the last 2 weeks and it's hard - really hard. Then there's the actual interview - what questions am I going to ask?? Where do I get a Dictaphone??? I'm so worried about not asking intelligent questions or worse - what if the person I interview is really stupid and the questions I ask are too hard. Either way I look like a dickhead.
I seriously can't cope with this thesis buzz so if you know anyone who would like to write it for me let me know. I would do anything I could do get out of this. I'm considering faking my own death. That's possibly a bit dramatic, so I may just fake a disease of some description. Anyone know a doctor who won't mind faking a sick note??
